“Guitar Slinger” is a real life glimpse into the hard scrabble life of itinerant blues men everywhere. Viewing the world as seen through the eyes of Donnie Pick, a middle aged, down on his luck blues, guitar slinger.  The film follows Donnie on his journey of discovery through the unending nights of bar gigs on the demanding blues club circuit. In the process he takes steps towards mastery of his true artistic self.

Donnie is the quintessential road dog, guitar pickin’, blues singin’ artist who struggles with the hardships of deteriorating health, continual money problems, and instable relationships, both personal and professional. We see his willingness to sacrifice all, friends, family, health, lifestyles and more in order to fulfill his lifelong dreams.

Accompanying Donnie on his quest to make it are the members of his band “the Unit” and his long suffering girl friend, Olivia. With the help of bassist Leroy and long time friend and bar owner Marty, and with the loyal support of his fans, Donnie goes through the trials and tribulations involved in acquiring a record label deal. With Dan a former band mate as protagonist to make things even worse, Donnie confronts a number of life issues. Fate and circumstances influence his career path, combining with an underlying drive to not follow in his father’s footsteps. Yet as it unfolds with the consequences that follow  his physical health and mental state, he finds his true self anchored firmly in the Blues music of his father.

This film is musically driven, making full use of the Blues to underscore and bring home both the sublime artistic worlds and the wretched seamy low side of life in the blues clubs.
